How ICON fixes White Spots

White marks on the tooth can be caused from many factors including: Trauma to the forming adult tooth, early tooth decay, demineralisation around braces, fluorosis or due to a developmental defect called MIH ( molar incisal hypomineralisation).

The white marks are due to changes within the tooth. These changes in air and water content result in marks that appear lighter than the normal surrounding tooth colour, hence the white spot lesion. ICON works to rebalance the air and water within the tooth using a resin, this resin diffuses into the tooth and causes changes to the way light reflects and interacts with the tooth, this results in a more even colour and shade as it removes the white lesion.
