Teeth can be discoloured or appear patchy for many reasons.
Commonly yellowing of the tooth it is due to dietary ‘extrinsic’ staining which causes the tooth to darken, hiding the natural white enamel tooth colour.
Sometimes brown or black discolouration can result from infection, leaking fillings or even developmental problems as the tooth develops.
White spots can also be a problem, this can be due to fluorosis or even from demineralisation from previous fixed brace use.
